There are a variety of playing slots available on different nights - Open Mic, Spotlight, HotSpots, Featured Artists, Double Header, Full Guest Nights.
Open Mic is an opportunity for the talented and enthusiastic to perform in front of our audience. Open Mic slots, usually 10 minutes but longer if time allows, may be booked in advance here or you can turn up on the night and take your chance. More details can be found on our artists page.
Spotlight Slots are extended unpaid Open Mic slots of approximately 20 minutes arranged and advertised in advance. These allow performers to develop their set and explore and present more of their repertoire. Spotlight Slots or Open Mic spots can lead on to HotSpots or Featured Artist bookings. There is just one Spotlight Slot in an evening.
HotSpots are thirty minute slots for good quality performers to present more of their repertoire. They can be lively or contemplative and tend to be solo artists or duos. HotSpots are by invitation but may be requested here. A small payment is made for expenses.
Featured Artists also appear by invitation. They are usually 45 minute slots at the end of the evening and are often trios or larger. They are designed to bring the evening to a rousing close. A slightly larger payment is made for expenses. HotSpots and Featured Artist slots may be extended.
Double Headers Occasionally two Featured Artists are booked for one evening.
Full Guest Nights are an exception. Where a band or performers are of exceptional entertainment value they may be booked for the evening with just a support act.
